Alderley Road / Fulshaw Park South / Whitehall Roundabout on Pendleton Way A34

If residents see work being completed at Whitehall roundabout over the next couple of days it is because Cheshire East Highways have begun the maintenance works around Whitehall Brook Bridge this morning.  

In brief, the works comprises a thorough cleanse of the watercourse between the bridge and the balancing pond upstream. 

This is to be excavated by mechanical means with the spoil spread on the bank belonging to CEH.  This will be ‘bee-bombed’ immediately to ensure that root growth quickly binds the sediment to the bank to prevent it becoming mobile again in the event of a flood. 

It is part of works to reduce the risk of flooding of Alderley Road.
